Pritzker Military Foundation, founded by Lieutenant Colonel Jennifer N. Pritzker (Retired), has gifted $10,000 to PFLAG National, the nation's largest organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. The grant will support the organization’s PFLAG Connects: Military Community program and its publication “At Ease: Support for Military Families with LGBTQ+ Children and Teens.”
“Military families make extraordinary sacrifices in service to our country, and they deserve access to the same care, support, and affirmation they work so hard to provide for others,” said LTC Jennifer Pritzker USA (RET). “Through PFLAG Connects: Military Community and resources like ‘At Ease: Support for Military Families with LGBTQ+ Children and Teens,’ we are ensuring that families have the tools that they need to find connection, community, and the information to support their LGBTQ+ loved ones.”
Since 2022, PFLAG Connects: Military Community, a confidential, moderated virtual support meeting has provided education, connection, and peer support for active-duty service members, veterans, and military spouses. As anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and restrictions on gender-affirming healthcare continue to impact military families across the country, the program offers a trusted space where participants can access resources, share experiences, and find community. Originally launched in partnership with Modern Military Association of America (MMAA), the monthly meetings are facilitated by current and former service members and military spouses with lived experience of supporting LGBTQ+ loved ones and address the unique challenges faced by military families, including frequent relocations, privacy concerns, and limited access to affirming local support. PFLAG National now leads the program independently, following MMAA's closure.
Building on the program's success, PFLAG National will strengthen partnerships with organizations such as SPARTA and Blue Star Families to expand outreach, increase resource sharing, and connect more military families to the support they need. Through this initiative, PFLAG National continues its mission to create a caring, just, and affirming world for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them, ensuring that military families have a safe place to find connection, understanding, and hope.
